The pinnacle for most photographers is to see their work in print but few receive national recognition for their images, which is why I’m thrilled to share club member Russell Millner’s recent press exposure.
Russell takes extended trips abroad to capture images of species not seen in the UK and in September his stunning image of a Gull facing off with an Arctic Fox taken in Norway appeared in the Telegraph newspaper.
More recently, Russell’s beautifully captured image of Polar Bears taken in Canada appeared in The Times. He says “The adult Polar Bears were play fighting as they do when they wait for the ice to freeze. This is a time of year when Polar Bears tolerate each other’s company, possibly to avoid conflict later on in the season when life becomes more serious (ie seal hunting for food).”
It takes hours of patient dedication, often in freezing conditions and difficult low light, to capture images like these, so it’s brilliant to see Russell’s efforts being recognized by the national press and we look forward to seeing more of his stunning photographs in this season’s club competitions.
