The clocks have gone back and October is at an end, so time for a monthly catch up.
Following the Club’s first Print Competition at the start of October the month continued with two excellent talks, which were both available on Zoom and at the Castle Street venue.
The first talk was by Adrian and Jane Lines, a shared talk with Keswick Photographic Society. This was a collaborative night which has taken place for a few years now. The talk entitled ‘Creative Difference’ gave insights into the photographic editing Adrian and Jane undertake to create their images.
Adrian and Jane’s images can be found at http://adrianlines.com/wordpress/ and http://janelines.com/
The second talk by David Keep entitled ‘Underwater Photography’ was also enjoyed by members and provided an insight into David’s diving trips across the globe to photograph manatees, sharks, diving guillemots, seals and the most anxiety provoking of all, fresh water crocodiles.
David’s photography can be seen at https://www.davidkeepphotography.co.uk/
Sandwiched between the two talks was the first PDI competition of the year. This was an Open Competition and drew a wide variety of photographic subjects for presentation including portraiture, nature, sports, landscape and street photography.
The full PDI competition results are available in the members area of the website.
Congratulations goes to Bill Pickard who had the winning Colour image on the night with ‘Winter’s Day Break’.

Congratulations also to Gavin Lowe (‘Boat Houses’) , David Poole (‘Tawney Owl With Mouse’) and Russell Miller (‘Motherly Love’) who also achieved 20 points for their images.

First place in the Monochrome Competition went to Gavin Lowe with ‘No9’.

Congratulations to Kim Rigg (‘Contemplation’) and Bill Pickard (‘River Brathay’) who also received 20 points for their images.

Looking Forward to November 1st, we have a talk by Lloyd Moore entitles ‘The Art of Story Telling: The Extra Element’.
There are also two more competitions in November. An Open Print Competition and a PDI Competition with the theme of ‘Balance’.
We look forward to members and visitors joining us at Castle Street Community Centre or via Zoom.
